Enchantment Lillies

I planted flowers at Sandy Pines that I took from my yard on Charlesgate, since I was letting my garden go to pot. Here are a few of the pictures before the rabbits got them. I had the flowers for a couple of years and even gave some to neighbors when they started to spread. Unfortunatly, the rabbits ate all of our flowers and even ate the bulbs so it was the end of our Enchantment Lillie.

Wildflowers from the past

Years ago, maybe 20 years ago, when we lived in Wyoming Michigan on Charlesgate Ave, I decided that I wanted my backyard to be like a 'secret garden'. I wanted a lot of flowers. So I planted a lot of wildflowers. I mentioned that I wanted to have a path to go to the upper level of our yard. I came home one day and found my son, Denny, digging the path. So I went to the store and got stepping stones. He even made steps for me. The yard was starting to look beautiful. Then we decided to buy into Sandy Pines so I had no time to work on my garden. Here are pictures of the bottom level of the yard.

May Flowers and Butterfly

Please check out the pictures on the side board. There is a picture of a butterfly that I took this week in my garden. And all of the flowers that are in bloom at this time. More pictures as they bloom. And O'Ley's Garden is in with the pictures. It's my beautiful O'Ley's garden that I planted for him.

Flowers are 'springing' up!

I have little purple flowers growing in my front yard and some little red ones in the back. Eat your hearts out, Michigan gardeners! I love it that I'm seeing little buds all over my bushes and plants. And my honeysuckle vines have flowers on them too! I'll be planting some plants that Donna Cross gave me. I'll plant them next week. It should be safe to plant them without worry of a frost. I hope. I hope.
O'Ley is still doing good. I thought that I'd be losing him by now but he's hanging in there. He eats all the time. I should knock on wood.
Willow is getting fat! I think he must weigh 30 pounds now.
Denny is doing really well with his diabetic diet. I'm shocked that he's sticking to it. I guess he knows now that it's a serious disease.

Sometimes the internet drives me crazy

I had my blog all written and then I got kicked off the internet. It does that once in awhile and it makes me sooooo mad. Anyway, I'm starting again.
My Michigan friends finally have nice weather. It was cold and wet there for awhile. And we were in the 90s. But, I'm not complaining.
My flowers are looking good. I have a lot of new flowers and I'm half way done with the border.
We got bricks to put around our trees in the front yard. Denny even carried some of the bricks from the truck. He starts cardio-therapy next week so maybe that will make him feel better. He feels bad because he can't go to Michigan this summer. Not only will he miss because of his therapy but it would cost us an arm and a leg for gas to get there. And Michigan's gas is higher than ours. Michigan's prices are the highest in the states, after California. I feel bad for people that have to drive a long way to work and only make minimum or close to it!
Denny and Sue brought a trampoline over for Dallas. As soon as they set in down, she ran to it and started to jump on it! I'm sure she's going to be a gymnist or anything that involves jumping. She watched divers on the swim meets on TV today and went wild when they were jumping on the board and then diving off!
She's starting to say a lot of words now. Denny's going to have to watch what he says now!!

Election day, association meetings, artists and flowers

Today is election day for mayor of Allen, TX. The present mayor has been mayor for 12 years. Since there isn't a limit for mayor, he could be mayor for a long time. I think that a change is needed. Not that he wasn't a good mayor but when someone holds a job too long, they can get too comfortable. We'll see.

We had an association meeting the other night for the community we live in. Unfortunately, they didn't have enough people present so the meeting was canceled. We were still able to ask questions. A lot of people asked questions. My concern is with neighbors around us that have large dogs and they put them outside late at night and very early in the morning. I love dogs but not barking when I'm trying to sleep.

Here is a cool picture of MC Escher. He has some really different work. I thought that this one was really imaginative. I should be so talented.

I went to Lowe's to get a few flowers for my front yard and found out that a lot of them were 1/2 off so I bought a lot of flowers. I have to take a picture of my yard but I'll wait until more of my perrenials bloom. I love summer!

African (or Butterfly) Iris

There are some beautiful flowers at the senior center that I couldn't identify, even after looking on the internet. I asked Susan Campbell, the Allen City landscaper and she told me that they're African Iris'or Butterfly Iris'. I found them on the internet after I found out what they're called. They're called Butterfly Iris' because the flowers look like butterflies sitting on top of the plant. The flowers last for only a day but bloom all summer. I tried to find some for my yard but couldn't find them. I asked Susan where I could get them. That afternoon she brought me two plants. And they're blooming in my yard already. That was so nice of her to add to the beauty of my yard.

Spring hasn't sprung but it's springing!

I got the front yard ready for spring, new mulch, new flowers, etc. It's beginning to look a lot like 'spring'. And Easter is next week already. Here's Dallas' picture with the Easter bunny and pictures of my front yard.
